The Making of an "American Scoundrel"

Pulitzer Prize Winner Kai Bird on Roy Cohn's Enduring Influence on Donald Trump

Join us on Wed., Sept. 16th, for what promises to be a revelatory program. Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Kai Bird and researcher/coauthor Susan Goldmark will discuss their new book, American Scoundrel: Roy Cohn's Dark Journey from Joe McCarthy to Donald Trump.

The book brings into focus Trump's formative relationship with the notorious political fixer and attorney, whose career began with his work for Sen. Joseph McCarthy and the Red Scare of the early 1950s. It also makes plain that, whether he's doing business or running the nation, the man in the White House operates from "the Roy Cohn playbook."

The Sept. 16 luncheon will be held at the NYU Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute, 20 Cooper Square, 7th floor.

Why? Over the following months, the Silurian Press Club will be trying different venues with different menus and options.

As our September lunch will be a buffet, luncheon reservations are reduced to $70 for members and $80 for guests.
